Many hospital revenue cycle staff members do not have a solid understanding of the legal ins and outs when it comes to third party reimbursement law.  Unfortunately their hospitals can miss out on reimbursement opportunities due to lack of such knowledge.  Conducted in an interactive format, this presentation will cover the federal and state reimbursement laws that staff can apply when managing claims.

Joe Partain, SVP, General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer

As senior vice president and general counsel, Joseph Partain oversees Convergent’s legal department. He is directly responsible for high dollar insurance recovery and negotiated resolution of disputed cases, as well as the management of local counsel in litigation cases. He directs and coordinates accounts in litigation, including handling pre-litigation actions, third party liability, and receivership accounts, as well as other industrial and commercial accounts and special projects. Partain is also general counsel for Convergent Revenue Cycle Management, Inc. and Convergent Resources, Inc.

Target Audience – Hospital CFO’s, VP, Revenue Cycle, PFS Directors, PFS representatives

Expected take-aways:

    1. Understand impact of third party reimbursement law on hospitals’ ability to recover payment on claims.

    2. Avoid claim delays and denials that are a result of incomplete or inaccurate information obtained at the time of patient admission

    3. Overturn claim denials by accurately identifying specific denial types and enhancing the corresponding appeal letter
